Naproxen is a painkiller medicine that specifically targets inflammatory pains. It belongs to a medicine class known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Non-steroidal anti-inflammatories such as Naproxen work by reversibly stopping enzymes in the body responsible for producing an inflammation causing substance known as prostaglandins. Prostaglandins usually signal the body to induce inflammation, by reducing their numbers in the body by slowing their production, inflammation is reduced.
Common side effects reported with naproxen use include: swelling of the hands and feet, skin reactions, diarrhoea, nausea,vomiting, fatigue, headache, photosensitivity.
