About the Product
Epiduo gel is an effective and popular branded treatment, prescribed for moderate to severe acne. It combines Adapalene and Benzoyl Peroxide to address acne by clearing pores and targeting acne-causing bacteria
Adapalene is classed as a third-generation retinoid (a form of vitamin A). It works to reduce inflammation and blackhead/whitehead formation by reducing the growth of the keratin surface skin cells that can block pores.
Benzoyl peroxide is a powerful antimicrobial agent that helps treat acne by removing dead skin cells and preventing clogged pores.
How effective is Epiduo?
Epiduo is highly effective in reducing acne symptoms. Most people (over 87%) notice improvement in their skin, like fewer pimples and clearer complexion, within the first month of using it regularly. Individual results may vary.
In the study, Epiduo showed promising results:
- Over 75% of patients had more than a 50% reduction in non-inflammatory lesions.
- Almost 70% experienced a similar reduction in inflammatory lesions.
- The total number of lesions decreased by over 78%.
- A majority of patients, 71.2%, reported a good to excellent response.
- Additionally, 87.6% had a satisfactory to good response.
Patient Demographics:
- 73 participants completed the 12-week study.
- Ages ranged from 12 to 35 years.
- Participants had papular-pustular acne with specific lesion criteria.
Treatment Application:
- Participants applied the gel once daily at bedtime for 12 weeks.
- Evaluation points at weeks 0, 1, 2, 4, 8, and 12.
How does Epiduo gel work?
Epiduo gel combines adapalene (a a synthetic retinoid) and benzoyl peroxide to efficiently clear acne. Adapalene reduces the growth of surface skin cells, preventing pore blockage.
It also decreases redness and inflammation. Benzoyl peroxide acts as an antimicrobial, killing acne-causing bacteria, and promotes skin turnover to clear blocked pores.
This dual action makes Epiduo effective against blackheads, whiteheads, and red spots associated with acne. Clinically tested, it is approved for both short and long-term treatment of mild to moderate acne symptoms.
