Qvar is a preventer inhaler and contains active ingredient is beclometasone dipropionate. Using inhaled corticosteroids such as Qvar will reduce the inflammation in the airways of your lungs. They also reduce the hyper-reactive response of the body to allergens. By doing so, steroid inhalers help to improve your asthma in the long term.
It is available as two strengths: Qvar 50 inhaler and Qvar 100 inhaler. Although other inhalers, like Clenil, contain the same active ingredient, Qvar is more potent than other inhalers because it contains extra-fine steroid particles.
Commonly reported side effects include taste changes, a sore mouth or thrush, hoarseness, and a sore throat. Oral thrush is a very common side effect of steroid inhalers. One way to reduce the chance of this happening is to brush your teeth or rinse your mouth with water after using your inhaler. Side effects may vary from one person to the next, as with any medication. You should always read the manufacturer’s Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) before using or any other medication.
