Daktacort contains the antifungal ingredient miconazole. Miconazole works by destroying the fungus that’s causing the skin infection. It can also work against certain bacteria that may be affecting the skin too.
The other ingredient in Daktacort is hydrocortisone, which is a mild topical steroid. This has an anti-inflammatory action on the affected skin and can help to reduce swelling, inflammation, itching, and redness.
Daktacort combines both ingredients to produce an antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial action. This means that it treats the cause of the skin infection, whilst soothing symptoms like itching and redness.
Fungal infections often present as itchy, inflamed, red, scaly rashes. They commonly appear in skin folds and in between the toes. The feet are particularly susceptible because shoes can become warm moist environments where fungus thrives.
Daktacort may cause sensitivity reactions, such as a rash, at the area of skin that it’s applied. It may also cause skin irritation, itchy skin, skin irritation, and irritability. Side effects may vary from one person to the next, as with any product. You should always read the manufacturer’s Information Leaflet before using this or any other product.
