Piriton contains the antihistamine chlorphenamine maleate to relieve the symptoms of hayfever, other allergies and itchy skin rashes. Piriton and other antihistamines work by reducing the allergic response of the body to allergens like pollen. Histamine is produced by the body when it comes into contact with these allergens. This release of histamine causes symptoms such as itchiness, redness and inflamed reactions.
By blocking histamine from working, Piriton stops these symptoms from occurring. Many people use Piriton for hayfever to block the histamine reaction to pollen.
It can be used to treat the itchiness, redness, swelling, tenderness and irritation that can be caused by hayfever, allergies, nettle rash, prickly heat, insect bites and more. It is also indicated for the symptomatic relief of itch associated with chickenpox.
