Calpol Six Plus is a widely-used painkiller suspension, formulated for children. Twice as strong as infant suspensions, Calpol Six Plus provides soothing, effective relief from aches and pains and fever in children aged six or over in just 15 minutes.
Calpol’s ingredients include paracetamol – do not use more than one paracetamol product at once. Calpol can be given to children for the following reasons:
Relieving mild to moderate pain such as headache, toothache, teething, earache or sore throat.
Reducing a high temperature (fever).
Relieving aches, pains, fever and general discomfort associated with colds and flu or following childhood vaccinations.
As with all medications, some users may experience side effects when using Calpol 6 Plus Original – however, most will not.
The most common side effect is a mild laxative effect.
In some cases, there may be an allergic reaction to either paracetamol or another ingredient. Signs of an allergic reaction include swelling of the face, tongue or throat, difficulty swallowing, unexplained wheezing, shortness of breath, rash or hives.
In very rare cases, some people taking paracetamol may become unusually tired, see unexpected bruising or bleeding and become more prone to infections (such as colds) than usual.
Very rare cases of serious skin reactions have been reported. Symptoms may include skin reddening, blisters and rashes.
If you experience any of these symptoms, stop using this medication immediately and contact your doctor or pharmacist.
