Genital warts are small, fleshy growths that can appear on the genitals or anus. They are caused by a virus called the human papillomavirus (HPV).

Many people with genital warts do not have any symptoms. However, some people may experience symptoms, including:

• Small, fleshy growths: The warts may be small and raised or flat.
• Itching: The area around the warts may itch.
• Pain: The warts may be painful, especially during sex.
• Bleeding: The warts may bleed, especially if they are scratched.

• Genital warts are spread through skin-to-skin contact, including vaginal, anal, and oral sex. They can also be spread from mother to child during childbirth.
