Dovobet contains two active ingredients: calcipotriol and betamethasone dipropionate. Psoriasis is caused by an increased production of skin cells. This results in a build-up of skin cells and creates the patches and other symptoms seen in psoriasis. Calcipotriol works by slowing the production of skin cells and bringing the rate of skin cell growth back to normal. Betamethasone works by reducing inflammation, which helps to improve symptoms such as itching and soreness.
Common side effects of Dovobet include skin exfoliation, itching, and skin irritation. An uncommon side effect is a worsening of your psoriasis. Side effects may vary from one person to the next, as with any medication. You should always read the manufacturer’s Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) before using or any other medication.
